the 51st state in america that we’re singing about is the state of mind (clever, we know). this was the 7th song written for the thank 7 ep and the recording brought out a side of the song that could never be replicated live.

5th song written in april ‘04. “freeeda” underwent multiple alterations before the recorded version heard on “Thank 7”. The preacher’s voice heard in the opening seconds was captured through Thomas’ pedal board via an AM radio station. The song continued to progress after the recording and was one of the band’s favorites to perform.
